Hobbit House ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Hobbit House aims to contribute to the quality of life on the Isle of Wight and further afield. We believe a 'green' approach can bring direct benefits. We are committed to improving our environmental performance by addressing the following objectives:
Energy Saving
Resource Conservation
Waste Reduction and Recycling
Environmentally-friendly purchasing
Environmentally sympathetic land management
In all activities we aim to do the following:
•Comply fully with all relevant environmental legislation and standards
•Inform our guests of environmentally friendly ways to enjoy the Isle of Wight particularly by horse riding, walking and cycling
•Encourage our guests to participate in our activities to minimise our environmental impact
•Promote the use of public and horse-drawn transport
•Aim for low impact methods in land stewardship
In addition we will:
•Encourage local wildlife by a sensitive planting scheme on our land
•Aim to minimise energy use by installation of energy-efficient lighting
•Participate in local recycling schemes for bottles and aluminium cans
•Encourage water saving by the use of water-efficient devices in cisterns
•Purchase local produce, and products from local suppliers wherever practicable
•Investigate opportunities to extend our business to encourage more guests to appreciate sustainable living
Management and Review
Management and review of this policy is our responsibility as the owner. We will undertake appropriate annual reviews and evaluations of our actions to measure improvements and to ensure compliance with this policy.
